Here’s the PROOF! Social Media Doesn’t Sell as Much as Emails

So Glad I'm Right! Social Media Doesn't Sell as Much as Emails

This Article is music to my hears!

Lauren Johnson says:

Even in a Mobile World, Retailers Aren’t Convinced Social Media Can Sell Platforms like Facebook and Pinterest make up 1.5 percent of purchases…

Between January and March 2016, e-commerce vendor Custora crunched data about $100 billion in sales among 500 million shoppers and found that only 1.5 percent of retailers’ last-click e-commerce transactions came via social media. Within that sliver of activity, Facebook dominated 81 percent of sales, while shopping-centric Pinterest generated 10.8 percent and Instagram, YouTube and Twitter collectively yielded 5.2 percent…

…By contrast, tried-and-true digital tactics like search, email and affiliate marketing dominated 70 percent of retail transactions in the study, while another 20 percent of sales were simply impulse purchases where marketing had no influence. Long-tail efforts like display ads, text messages and push notifications accounted for the remainder of sales—essentially making social seem dead in the water…

I can only agree with this as I’ve been testing my revenue and profit generated by traffic affluence for my FB, Instagram, Blog and Email. Sorry but not a fan of some of the ebusiness lingo – ppc, roi, ctr, cr – doesn’t mean I don’t know what they are, I just prefer to use layman’s terms.

So the winner for me is definitely email…followed by my blog.

So I’m glad that my testing is being proven by a study. I will continue doing what I’m doing since it is where I have the best results.
