Have you heard about the Kaizen philosophy? It is important in business and is being applied more and more in successful businesses.
What is it?
KAI means: Change
ZEN means: Good
“CHANGE FOR THE BETTER” or Continuous Improvement…by Everybody! Everyday! Everywhere!
According to the Kaizen Institute:
Kaizen is the practice of continuous improvement. Kaizen was originally introduced to the West by Masaaki Imai in his book Kaizen: The Key to Japan’s Competitive Success in 1986. Today Kaizen is recognized worldwide as an important pillar of an organization’s long-term competitive strategy. Kaizen is continuous improvement that is based on certain guiding principles:
- Good processes bring good results
- Go see for yourself to grasp the current situation
- Speak with data, manage by facts
- Take action to contain and correct root causes of problems
- Work as a team
- Kaizen is everybody’s business
One of the most notable features of kaizen is that big results come from many small changes accumulated over time. However this has been misunderstood to mean that kaizen equals small changes. In fact, kaizen means everyone involved in making improvements.
Can this be applied in network marketing? OF COURSE!
1) Problems provide opportunities
The problem gives you the chance to solve it and become a better person, you are working in this way on yourself. The belief that the problem is the possibility of completely changing your point of concentration. If the problem is an opportunity don’t treat it as a problem (something negative) only as a possibility (something positive). Such way calms negative emotions and raises the focus on finding solutions. This is one of the keys to success in network marketing.
2) Ask five times “Why?”
Asking yourself or someone a series of questions helps in knowing the true answer. Do you remember how small children constantly ask “why” even if you already have provided the most meaningful answers? That’s one reason why children learn so quickly. They ask many questions, and get different answers, each exploring the next topic, and finally they get what they want. In network marketing it is similar. If something is not going as it should, use the method of kaizen – 5 Whys and go deeper.
- Why have I not succeed in network marketing?
- Because I do not have people in my team.
- Why do I have no people in my team?
- Because I do not recruit them.
- Why am I not recruiting?
- Because I don’t have leads and prospects.
- Why don’t you have leads and prospects?
- Because I don’t use the tools to build a list.
- Why don’t you use the tools to build a list?
- Because I don’t know what they are.
This way, you come to the conclusion that the problem is to build a list, not a problem with recruitment. Now you should find a solution to what is the cause, not effect.
3) Take ideas from others
“A wise man learns from their mistakes, smart man learns from the mistakes of others, stupid man never learns,” Nicodemus Marshal. Don’t ignore other people’s ideas! It may happen that they will propulse your business into orbit! Ask questions, listen instead of talking, read books and increase the number of references, draw conclusions, watch videos, acquire knowledge, analyze. One good idea can change your life for ever.
4) Think of the possible solutions to implement
Adopt only the solutions fit to the market and needs. When you gain knowledge about network marketing for example, see how you can implement it into your own business.
5) Reject established state of affairs
“You must steal the first milion” “Poor but happy” “To earn you must have your own capital.” These and other “folk sayings” inhibit many people from achieving success, and even before trying. These are all total nonsense. In the world there are millions of people who rejected this erroneous thinking and have achieved phenomenal success. If someone tells you that something is white or black, this is their limit not yours. Remember these words: “If something is impossible, find someone who does not know and he’ll do it” Albert Einstein.
6) Excuse that something cannot be done are unnecessary

7) Choose a simple solution – do not wait for ideal
It always amazes me how simple the mechanism of action of network marketing is. For some people it seems so simple that it must be complicated. This is not needed. If something is simple and it works why change it? It may also happen that the system proposed by the company is not perfect (in fact it never is). You can spend your whole life trying to find the perfect business, the perfect product and not find anything. Do not fall into this trap. ACT!
8) Use your wits instead of money
This is one of the biggest mistakes people make today. They think that to do anything they need money. If you think you need money – read the item no. 6…but you need capital. The problem is that people do not know that time is capital. If you have time – you can create a business that directs a stream of money into your site.
9) Correct mistakes
If you see that something is not working or not working as it should do something about it. If you still do the same thing and expect different results, it is the definition of insanity. Sometimes you have to change the thinking and jump on the side track, going in the same direction but the other way. Network marketing is a business based on market rules. If something is not working as it should make the correction.
10) Improvement never ends
Everything can be improved, and that apply to network marketing as well. If you have a conversion to business on some level, say 1% of this, improvement would be to change this to 2%. When you invite 10 people to the business, but nine of them resign it is a a signal that something needs to be changed. What to do? Rule 5x “why”. Start by asking, “Why 9 / 10 people have given up ” and dig deeper.
