The Workforce Musical Chair Calls For Fresh Blood

The Musical Chair Calls For Fresh Blood

In the last year or so, many radio hosts on my station left.

The latest one left on June 24th after 40 years!

The Baby Boomers are leaving the workforce…and they don’t really retire. They leave to do something else. Something they like but at their pace, not forced to wake up at 3 in the morning for the morning show…after many years, the body doesn’t want to follow anymore.

So the musical chair of work is now working for fresh blood…but in the last few years, the work market has been really tough on new kids on the block. They are being squeezed like lemon and many new workforce decide to leave the traditional work force after 1 to 5 years.

What are they turning to? As my 20-year old daughter would say:

“Mom, I want to enjoy life. I want the money to travel, to do what I like but I don’t want to be harassed by crazy managers who don’t know how to deal with people!”

See. That’s the difference between my generation and my daughter’s. I waited 26 years to live fully doing what I like…she’s doing it right now!

I’m just glad to have her around so she showed me what’s important in life.

Love you B.

Cheers!
Patricia
